Textil Bau, founded in 1999, designs and implements projects in the field of textile architecture. The company is known for its challenging membrane constructions across the world, including standard membranes for playgrounds and preschools, as well as customised structures like retractable or permanent stadium roofs.
Textil Bau's unique membrane constructions are created in cooperation with an established network of international engineers, steel and membrane construction builders, and installation experts. Whether they are conical structures, free forms or arches, Textil Bau's membrane structures are intelligent and innovative solutions. The company's service starts with a consultation about design and structure, covering detail planning, production and installation, culminating in discussing maintenance issues. This enables Textil Bau to guarantee a professional and economical project management service, all the way from the first design to the finished installation.
One of the highlights of IGA Berlin 2017 was the Wolkenhain lookout tower, which is located in Kienberg, Germany. The visitors' platform is shaped like a cloud that rises up into the sky and is at the centre of the IGA, showcasing a panoramic view of Berlin.
The bottom and side faces of the white-coated steel construction are covered with more than 100 individual elements made of siliconcoated glass fibre. This fabric is particularly effective at night, when the structure is highlighted by diverse interior lighting.
